Iris Birth Services

My name is Tenielle, and I'm a student doula with Childbirth International. At this point in time, I have just completed the Physiology in Pregnancy and Birth module of my training, and am onto Birth Doula Skills.

I have two beautiful children, a one-year-old daughter and a son who is no longer with us. Since I was pregnant with my son, I have been drawn to birth and birth services. I feel every woman deserves the best birth she can achieve, and I'd love to be there to help create that no matter the circumstances.

I am very flexible when it comes to how you want to birth. There are so many options I would be glad to talk over with you, from completely natural and drug-free births to planned caesareans and everything in between. I am happy to attend hospital births just as much as I am home births.

I currently live in Lalor, in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. As such, the majority of my births are expected to be at the Northern Hospital or home births in this region. I am happy to travel to other areas of Melbourne, but may have to charge a little extra to cover travel costs. I'll decide on a case-by-case basis until I work out which hospitals/areas are easiest for me to travel to, and which are more difficult.

After I qualify as a doula, I hope to train as a lactation consultant and breastfeeding counsellor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association. I also plan to complete a course on supporting people through grief so I can adequately provide support through pregnancy and baby loss. Having been through it myself, I have some experience, but I’d like to have formal training as well.

I hope to hear from you soon!
